Dear Viewers,
One of my favorite things about this time of year is the “Santa Clause”. It’s the threat I repeatedly utter to my children to get them to behave, because “Santa is watching”. It’s highly effective.
For example, the other night it was time to clean up the playroom, and like usual they were dilly-dallying because they know once they’re finished it’s time to get ready for bed. They were moving in typical slow motion, but then I said, “you know Santa is watching and he thinks boys and girls should clean up quickly”. Boy did that light a fire. My daughter was practically panic stricken, yelling at her brother “hurry, hurry or Santa won’t leave you any presents.” I’m not sure he understands the Santa concept yet (he’s two), but the sense of urgency in his sister’s voice was enough to get him hustling.
I’m going to ride the Santa wave up until the moment they go to bed Christmas Eve. I know there will come a day when I’ll say “Santa is watching” and they’ll just look at me like “give me a break.” But until then, I’ll be employing the “Santa Clause” as often as possible!

Mindy,
Your post was hysterical!!! I do the same thing with my 3 1/2 year-old daughter. It does work like a charm and like you, I will be using it for as long as I can. My daughter is to the point that she offers to help me with all the house chores. I guess she figures the more chores she does the more presents she’ll get
On a different story line, I asked my daughter what she wanted Santa to bring her and she answered “everything that I don’t have” with this serious look on her face, as if to say, “Mommy, so silly you even have to ask”. I laughed so hard. Out of the mouths of babes. I guess I got my answer.
Have a great Christmas!!

Mindy,
That is too funny! I did the same thing…only I think there were times I started in OCT!!
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!!

Mindy, Get the book with a elf. It is called a elf on the shelf. You move this elf everyday, so he is always watching. Kids can’t wait for the elf to arrive because they really try to be good. Great book. Donna
